چکیده
The demand for biodiesel in the renewable energy sector continues to grow yearly. However, majority of sources currently still compete with food sector. Feun Kase seeds contain high oil and do not food, so they have prospects as a new source biodiesel. This study aimed find optimal conditions synthesizing from seed oil, carried out through transesterification four reaction variables: catalyst variation, time, temperature, molar ratio oil/methanol. was equipped parameter test data according SNI (Indonesian National Standard) 7182:2015, also characterization using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) GCMS (Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy). highest yield 84.09% obtained optimum 1% NaOH catalyst, oil/methanol 1:6 at 70°C 90 minutes reaction. results parameters are density (851 kg/m3), smoke point (6°C), kinematic viscosity (5.35 cSt); acid number (1.08 mg KOH/gr), saponification (159.32 iodine (78.62 g I2/100 sample), flash (165°C), cetane (62.86). analysis proved presence methyl esters typical absorption 1743 cm-1, 1195.87 1436.97 cm-1. showed that dominated by oleate (53.45%), palmitate (27.05%), stearate (10.96%), linoleate (6.29%).

Efficacy of Catalysts in the Batch Esterification of the Fatty Acids of Thevetia Peruviana Seed Oil
The methyl, ethyl, propyl and butyl esters of the fatty acids of Thevetia peruviana seed oil were successfully prepared by the batch-esterification procedures. Various acid catalyst and various molar ratios of fatty acid to alcohol were investigated. H3PO4 was found to be ineffective to catalyze the esterification of the free fatty acid. HCl gas and conc. H2SO4 both proved very effective in cat...
